. . . and the name of the band is JJ Grey & Mofro!

OK, perhaps I'm engaging in a bit of hyperbole, but I'm definitely impressed by what they are dishing out. Good sound, good lyrics, good band, & Grey's got a great voice & true stage presence--he really knows how to play a crowd.

South Florida finally had a good music festival this past Saturday. Thankfully the weather was great, but unfortunately for the bands the fan turnout was kind of sparse. Good for me though--got to dance directly in front of the stage whenever I wanted! Lineup:

MAIN STAGE
CRAZY FINGERS
THE AUCTIONEERS
THE HEAVY PETS
HILL COUNTRY REVUE
BOBBY LEE RODGERS TRIO
LEE BOYS
IVAN NEVILLE'S DUMPSTAPHUNK
DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND
KARL DENSON'S TINY UNIVERSE
JJ GREY & MOFRO
11:00PM to Midnight
ALL-STAR JAM

I like his older CD's better than the newer ones, if you're looking for a CD to get acquainted. He does have a brand new one out I have yet to hear. My favorite is his first, "Blackwater".

Some of my favorite bands that you can get on the Archive were at that festival. Sounds like it was a blast. And yes, JJGrey & Mofro is a great live experience.

Karl Denson is in the Greyboy Allstars and is not on the Archive, but seek out their music if you like his other bands.

I always hear favorable reports on this band from folks who see them. THey must be doing something right.

Dumpstaphunk is always fun. Next generation(s) of Nevilles carrying it forward.
